About Me:

Sally, formerly a museum professional, spends most of her time cleaning and restoring gowns or helping brides find a cleaner near them who will care about their gowns as much as they do. She has appeared on local and national television and has been featured in books, magazines, and newspapers. She lives in the woods in Connecticut with her husband Rogers, who is also her business partner, and two black cats. Rogers like to fish, and so does Sally, but when Rogers' sporting events take over the television, she reads.

About My Business

Sally is executive director of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists. Members, who cover the United States, Canada, Australia, and South America, specialize in gown restoration, cleaning, and preservation. She, too, is a member of the Association, and her own company, Orange Restoration Labs, processes more than 2,000 gowns each year. Some special projects include a wedding gown from the 1890s, a christening gown dated 1820, and a veil from 1862.

Award for restoration from the International Drycleaners Congress--always nice to be recognized by your peers.

Why I Love My Profession

Every bride wishes her wedding day could last forever. Sally can't make that happen but she can give the bride's beautiful gown the care it deserves so it will last a lifetime or more.
