About Me:

Melissa Kay Allen is the Director of Catering & Special Events at The Ebell of Los Angeles, bringing her years of experience as an independent wedding planner to a historic venue. After studying voice, theater and film in her hometown of Las Vegas, she spent six years at Disney Feature Animation in Production Management before embarking into the wonderful world of weddings & events. In keeping with the vintage touch, Melissa is a vocalist with the Fabulous Esquires Big Band and can be found on dance floors around the Los Angeles area lindy hopping and jitterbugging.

About My Business

Built in 1927, The Ebell of Los Angeles is an architectural masterpiece! It’s a registered Historic Landmark as well as a National Treasure. The Ebell is also a women’s club, founded with the mission of encouraging educational, social and cultural growth of the Los Angeles community. The Ebell Club is still active today, so the legacy continues. Historic moments have involved the club and the clubhouse and the adjoining Wilshire Ebell Theatre (Judy Garland was discovered on the Wilshire Ebell Theatre stage, Amelia Earhart’s last public appearance was here). You’ve probably seen the Ebell in film or on television: Forrest Gump, Ghost, Bedtime Stories, …Benjamin Button, 24, Gilmore Girls, Hous, Mad Men – all have filmed at the Ebell. And weddings are a big part of our legacy at the Ebell. We cherish those moments and are proud to be a part of that very special day...

Why I Love My Profession

"Every day's a party!" Ok, not really, but every day is spent focusing on someone's big moment - weddings are a very big deal to a lot of people, and being a part of the team that makes the day breathtaking - I love that!! Every event is a unique experience and the spirit of collaboration, when eyes are smiling and celebrations are well underway - there's nothing like that in the world!
