Glenda Asks: How do you address return labels & reply cards when parents of bride are deceased?

My sister is getting married and our parents are deceased.  How do we address the invitations and RSVP cards? Do you address everything to the bride and groom as though they are already married, or just put my sister (the bride’s) name?

Roseanne Asks: Suggestions for a beach-themed wedding shower?

My Goddaughter is getting married this July.  She has a beachy theme.  We are giving her a house shower in June.  I am trying to come up with flowers centerpiece ideas that don’t break the bank and I can do myself. She is using shells and hydrangea (blue & white)& other white accents and raffia bows for the wedding pieces.  Any ideas on centerpieces for the shower that will stick with her theme?

Kate Asks: Is having a slideshow at the reception tacky or too informal for a formal wedding?

For a formal wedding — not necessarily black tie but one that is held in the evening at a swanky hotel in a major city — is having a slideshow at the reception tacky or too informal? My fiancee and I really want to create a slideshow for our guests, but I am afraid this is better suited to an event like the rehearsal dinner. However, our rehearsal dinner will consist of only those in the wedding party and their dates, so only about 30 people out of our 200 guests would get to see our photos. Any and all advice is appreciated!

Annie Asks: How can I prepare my hair and skin for my wedding in Mexico?

I am getting married in Mexico in June. I have very wavy/curly, frizzy hair when in humidity; fairly oily skin; and I tend to sweat easily (I currently live in Colorado so my body is not used to humidity!).

I have a couple of questions.

1) What should I do to reduce frizz in my hair, and make my curls look nice?

2) I would love to have hair that looks like Carrie Underwood’s for the wedding. I plan on getting clip-in extensions – any suggestions?

3) Do you have any suggestions about make-up for the humidity? I am prone to acne.

Jennifer Asks: How can I achieve a rustic “wild flower” look?

I am having a rustic wedding out in Beaver Creek, Colorado.  I am looking for centerpiece ideas for the reception. My color’s are beige and yellow and I wanted to keep with the “wild flower” look.  Can you help with any ideas?

Nicole Asks: Must we have traditional seating for all guests?

I am having a mid-afternoon “station style” wedding with food such as sliders, finger sandwiches & potato salad. With 150 people, do we have to have enough seats for everyone or can we mix hightops with longer tables? Also, if we do a mix should each “place setting” be set?

This is causing such a riff in the family, a professional opinion would be so very appreciated!

Kate Asks: Do I have to provide transportation for all my 200 guests from the church to the hotel if they are two blocks apart?

Do I have to provide transportation for all my 200 guests from the church to the hotel? If the two venues were a considerable distance away from one another, I would automatically think the answer would be “yes.” However, my fiance and I are getting married in Washington, DC and the church and hotel are two blocks apart. My parents, though, are convinced that we need to provide transportation for everyone since the church does not have its own parking lot (there is street parking, although my fiance and I want to encourage guests to park at the hotel and walk to the church). Note that we are definitely providing transportation for those who need it, including our grandmothers and other older relatives who would have a tough time physically making the walk. A professional opinion on this dilemma would be much appreciated!

Dawn Asks: What’s the best way to transport delicate flowers to my wedding!?

I need to transport 30 fresh arrangements in various sizes of glass vases. They are going to be quite large with an array of delicate flowers in them. What will be the best way to transport these without damaging them? Thanks! Dawn.
