The Best of Bridal Market (Bridesmaid Edition): Bella Bridesmaid, Baltimore
| By Kim Forrest ~ May 23rd, 2012 ~ Wedding Dresses | 1 Comment |
We’ve spent the last few weeks asking bridal salon owners from around the country to dish about their favorite wedding dresses from New York Bridal Market. As a little bonus, we thought we’d focus on bridesmaids, too. We spoke to Whitney Adams, the owner of the recently-reopened Bella Bridesmaid salon in Baltimore, to share her top picks for your ‘maids.
Q: Was there one collection or bridesmaid dress that you thought was the “best of market?”
The shimmer fabric that Ivy & Aster put out (as shown on the Soiree style, below) was absolutely fantastic. It’s subtle, but it offers something so different.

Q: What do you think is the hot bridesmaid dress color of this season?
I think stripes, dots, and even patterns will have a bigger presence. I loved Monique Lhuillier‘s new floral print (left) and the striped skirts from LulaKate (right).

Q: What’s your favorite new trend or dress detail this season?
Combining bright, punchy colors, especially in the color blocking from Jim Hjelm Occasions (below). Even taking a neutral tone like navy with a kick of icy blue or bright green at the bottom is fabulous and unexpected.
Here are Whitney’s top bridesmaid dress picks for every venue type:
Beach/Destination Wedding: Style JH5266 by Jim Hjelm Occasions. That back in a tropical hue has me sold!
Formal Ballroom: Style 450088 by Monique Lhuillier
Romantic Garden: Lierre by Ivy & Aster
Casual Backyard: 8th Avenue by Ceremony by Joanna August

Modern Loft Space: Style JH5258 by Jim Hjelm Occasions. Colorblocking is so on trend!
Preppy Country Club: Any of the new striped dresses by LulaKate
