Top 10 Things a Gracious Bride Knows
| By Melissa ~ January 29th, 2010 ~ Wedding Planning | Comments Off |
While reading the newly released 3rd Edition of “The Everything Wedding Etiquette Book“, I found the prologue to be sage advice from wedding expert and author Holly LeFevre. With her permission, I share it with you.
Top Ten Things a Gracious Bride Knows:
- Others may not know proper etiquette, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore it.
- Be humble. You may be a bride now, but soon you will re-enter life as a mere mortal.
- Respect tradition, but give it your own personal spin.
- Mind your manners. “Please” and “thank you” will take you a long way.
- Your friends and family do not work for you but are happy to help you because they love you.
- Don’t assume anything. Ask questions and get the details in writing.
- Don’t keep guests waiting and don’t ask them to pay for anything.
- Treat your vendors kindly and they will do the same for you.
- Thank-you notes are a must. It is never wrong to express your thanks to your parents, your guests, and your vendors.
- If it doesn’t feel right, don’t do it. When in doubt, trust yourself.
Gratitude, mindfulness, and kindness are the best modes of operation. When the wedding planning process gets stressful or overwhelming, take a deep breath, allow yourself to slow down, and find a moment of grace.
What other suggestions or advice can you add to this list?
Special thanks to Holly LeFevre for permission to print her top ten list.
