All About Welcome Bags

Welcome bags are a great way to show your out-of-town guests that you care, it’s also a fabulous way to greet your guests if you are having a destination wedding!  Welcome bags are by no means required, but it does add that extra touch for your guests.  If you’re having a local wedding, coordinate with the hotel to plant the packages in the rooms before your guests arrive.  Getting welcome bags to your destination wedding is a little more tricky, but there are two ways to go about it.  Of course, the first option is to package up your welcome bags and ship them to your destination ahead of time.  However, be aware of expensive shipping costs and duty taxes.  Your second option is to pack the welcome bags into several boxes and have your guests bring them along as checked bags.  Be sure to have your helpful guests aid in the packing process so they can answer the “did you pack all your bags yourself question” truthfully.  Whatever destination option you choose, be sure to bring along extras in case your packages get smooshed or broken along the way!

The following are great ideas to incorporate into welcome bags:

* A list of your scheduled events

* Area maps

* Area Tourism Pamphlets

* Restaurant

Recommendations

* Bottled Water

* Asprin

* Small Snack (Try to keep it simple so all guests, even those with allergies, can enjoy it.)

* Local Fare (Your hometown or destination is sure to be famous for some food or sweet treat!)

* Sunscreen

* Aloe Lotion

It’s a great idea to continue your wedding theme into your welcome bags – this way guests get one more glimpse of the fun they’re about to have!  The images included in this post are some of my favorite welcome bags by the über talented team at Soirée by Tara Guérard.  They all truly grasp the essence of the wedding location and are gathered together in the most beautiful packages!
