“People work better when they are not hungry.”
Many couples will call the studio and ask how many videographers and photographers will be coming so that they can order them a dinner, often even given them the same choice as their guests. There is also the phone call that will ask the questions or whether or not they need to provide the vendor a meal.
My answer to those questions is with the following comment. “If you worked at 10+ hour day would you want to stop and eat at some point and wouldn’t that allow you to better focus on your work and ultimately do a better job, than is you were hungry all day?”
I would say that regardless of where you are in the country, vendor meals are standard. Many reception locations can offer sandwiches or something other than filet and lobster to your vendors, but you should make sure you budget that into your overall expenses.
Cocktail hour is one part of the day that your vendor can grab something quick, but more often than not, they are busy working on making your wedding day perfect.

Alex, I totally agree, and make sure that all the vendors that work my wedding are well taken care of. However, “when” can be a question mark, so it’s wise for vendors to pack appropriate snacks such as power bars.

Richard, you are correct and our photographers who have been doing this for some time will always have a snack with them, to make sure they do not reach that point of hunger, that may alter the way the perform on a wedding day. GREAT ADVICE!
