Orange You Glad for Happy Wedding Flowers?

Orange isn’t usually the theme color of choice when it comes to weddings. But when used in a summer outdoor beach wedding, it is fun, vibrant, fresh, and modern. We recently provided the flowers for a casual beach wedding in beautiful Santa Barbara. The bride wore white, but wanted to feature bright orange flowers against aqua/teal. She carried a bouquet of all orange ‘mango’ calla lilies which we wrapped in ivory satin ribbon and accented with light orange pearl pin detailing. The bridesmaids wore aqua and held bouquets of all white mini calla lilies wrapped in aqua satin ribbon with light orange pins.

The ceremony took place on the sand with a wrought iron arch decorated with aqua organza fabric and orange toned flowers: mokara orchids, ‘voodoo’ roses, and cymbidium orchids. We also hung strands of hanging cymbidiums and marigolds, interspersed with white sand dollars and clear crystals.

Prior to the ceremony, the guests gathered for an informal beach barbecue on picnic tables covered with teal colored linens.  We decorated the tables with groupings of three square and rectangular arrangements in a modern glossy white ceramic.  Each container featured all one type of flower in orange: fun spider gerbera daisies, local California marigolds, golden orange mokara orchids, two-toned orange ‘voodoo’ roses, and very rich vibrant orange dahlia.

After the sunset ceremony, the guests moved on to dancing and desserts.  We decorated the patio dance floor with immersed arrangements of cymbidium orchids, tulips, and mokara orchid blossoms topped with floating candles.  The strands of hanging flowers and sand dollars were also moved from the arch and hung from tree branches at the reception site – a great way to reuse flowers!

Designing a teal and orange Hawaii wedding for November. Love the idea of reusing the hanging arch flowers in the (palm)trees. I’m using white benches with orange pillows for a lounge area on the lawn.

We love orange stationery and we have designed quite a bit of it. Check out a few samples on our Facebook page; http://www.facebook.com/threelittlebirdsinc
