Bright and Beautiful Blooms

It is time to think about Summer colors and styles. As we leave the pastel soft tones of Spring there is a fun popping brightness to the Summer colors. One of my favorite color combinations is orange, hot pink and bright chartreuse green. I love the look of this wedding, in fact this event had a extra accent tone of turquoise. That beautiful blue tone was found in the maid’s dresses as well as pottery that was made for the bride and groom. The wedding took place in a vineyard, which also added to the overall look and feel of this wedding. One other element that made these flowers extraordinary and unexpected was the use of tropical flowers. The bride happened to be a artist and loved the textures, shapes and colors that tropicals offered.

This altar arrangement was created of orange Lily, green Bells of Ireland or Moluccella, Eremurus, red, pink and green Anthurium, raspberry and orange Gerber’s, green Spider Mums and Birds of Paradise. When you combine typical wedding flowers with tropical flowers you are able to achieve interesting designs and shapes that are unexpected. A common request I hear is, ”no funeral looking altar pieces, please”. Tropicals help to resolve that issue.

This design is awesome for so many reasons. The pottery that was created for the bride and groom really brought a special look to this design. The pottery actually had the bride and groom’s initials stamped into the dish and you just can’t beat something custom made for a wedding day. The flowers here were again a mix of tropicals as well as classics, plus a few pods we painted. The hot pink and green fuzzy balls or pods are actually Scabiosa. We used Gerber’s, Orchids, Lily, Mums, Roses, Asters, Anthurium and Pin Cushions with loops of Bear Grass.

The bright colorful tones speak of summer and happy times. I love the look of this color combination.
