The Best Free Places for your Wedding Photos!

I was recently interviewed by the Home News Tribune and the Courier News, who were doing stories on locations in the Middlesex and Somerset County (New Jersey), where brides and grooms can have their formal photos shot for free. The article will be released on Sunday February 8th, 2009 and can probably be found on the publisher’s web site.
The article inspired me to write about the many places nationwide which offer great locations for wedding photos and usually cost little or no money at all.
As a New Jersey based studio, we have some incredible location for wedding photos, which include the amazing scenery provided by New York City, and the incredible parks which are spread throughout the GARDEN STATE.
Some great locations are usually the last place you consider. We have shot weddings at conference center grounds and historic landmarks.
With a little pre-planning and permission, you can find beautifully designed landscapes at some of the largest corporate complexes in your area. New Jersey boasts some of the most well manicured corporate complexes in the area which can be accessed for wedding photography.
As the Garden State, New Jersey is also home to some of the most beautiful gardens, which couples can usually access for wedding photos, with a simple permit, the cost of which usually goes to the maintenance of the garden itself and is a minimal cost. By getting a permit, you are also assuring yourself and your bridal party that you will have a set location and time for you to have your photos taken.
The beach is a given in our area and is a great place to take shots. Historic Landmarks are also great for some un-traditional shots. Historic landmarks could include churches, monuments, bridges and locations unique to your wedding or your state.
You should also remember your home. Our home is sometimes the last place we think of, yet we spend hours grooming our lawns to look just right. In many cases couple live in a complex, which can offer, fountains, well groom landscapes and more.
To get some ideas in your area, look up the Parks System closest to you or where you will be getting married and you will get some ideas. The same can be said for historic landmarks and quirky places like your first date.
If you have a good idea that is out of the ordinary for wedding photos, let me know.

Abandoned buildings (of which most towns have at least a few) or other urban sites can be great locations for wedding photography — the juxtaposition of gritty settings with frilly wedding dresses can make for amazing shots!
